In 1983, Prof. John Boel (photo) began to do research in the field of acupuncture. Known was the 1944 in West Jutland / Denmark born acupuncturist when he successfully treated in 1996 the then Danish Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis.
In the late 1990s, John Boel launched the new acupuncture method “AcuNova”. She became the first of today’s total of 11 methods of Modern Acupuncture to Boel (MAB).
In 2007, the Acupuncture University was founded in Aulum, Denmark. There, the MAB methods were first taught, over the years around 6,000 MAB practitioners were trained worldwide.
Prof. Boel himself offered MAB courses in different European countries, not only in Scandinavia, but also in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
As of 2019, seven German MAB instructors trained by John Boel offer courses throughout Germany.
